Yates Construction provided general construction services for the Mississippi Power Operations Center. This 86,000 square foot operations complex is located on a 40 acre site. The building is a single story, structural concrete frame with an architectural pre-cast concrete exterior. The entire structure is designed to withstand 200 mile per hour winds and operate independently of public utilities for up to three days. It has emergency generators, redundant HVAC equipment, and storage tanks and pumps for both domestic and fire water systems. It can also support an “around the clock” contingency of operating staff, complete with sleeping and shower facilities.
