Bill Yates, Chairman of The Yates Companies, Inc., Inducted into the Mississippi Top 100 Hall of Fame

Recently, William G. Yates Jr., Chairman of The Yates Companies, Inc., was inducted into the Mississippi Top 100 Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime of outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to Mississippi.

The Mississippi Top 100 honors leaders across business, government, and culture who have made a positive impact on the state. As one of the two individuals selected for the Hall of Fame this year, Mr. Yates was inducted alongside Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves. As a Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. Yates joins an esteemed group of Mississippians recognized for a lifetime of service, including Archie Manning, James Meredith, Governor William Winter, and Senator Thad Cochran.

Mr. Yates’ career in construction began in 1960 while he was an engineering student at the University of Mississippi. In 1963, alongside his father, William “Gully” Yates, he co-founded W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company. Under his leadership, Yates has grown into the largest construction service provider in the State, a position it has held for more than two decades. Yates also ranks #29 on Engineering News-Record’s Top 400 Contractors List and is considered one of the country’s preeminent solutions for large and complex construction projects.

This induction to the Mississippi Top 100 Hall of Fame adds to a long list of accolades for Mr. Yates, who has previously been honored with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Mississippi Hall of Fame, ENR Texas and Louisiana Legacy Award, the Gaming and Hospitality Hall of Fame, and the University of Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame.
