Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environmental
Yates Construction and our joint-venture partner provided construction services for the Keesler Air Force Base LEED® for Homes project. This project was the largest LEED® for Homes project in history at the time of construction. The homes exceeded Energy Star standards, making them 40 percent more efficient than traditional homes. Due to the bay location of this project, homes can withstand 140-mph winds. House frames utilized steel panels to reduce shear winds and steel cables anchored to a post-tension foundation and attached to the roof to protect against uplift from high-velocity winds.
Phase I of this project included the construction of Thrower Park and Bay Ridge subdivisions. These subdivisions include 528 units on the 319 pads with 35 building types, four picnic areas, eleven playgrounds, and three basketball courts. Phase II of the project included the construction of West Falcon and East Falcon subdivisions. These subdivisions include 490 units on the 245 pads with 10 building types, four picnic areas, eight playgrounds, and three basketball courts.
