Keesler Housing Project

Keesler Housing Project

Yates Construction and our joint venture partner provided general construction services for the Keesler Air Force Base LEED for Homes project. This project is the largest LEED for Homes project in history. The homes exceed current Energy Star standards, making them 40% more efficient than traditional homes. Due to the bay location of this project, homes were designed to withstand 140 mph winds. House frames utilized steel panels to reduce shear winds, as well as steel cables anchored to a post tension foundation and attached to the roof to protect against uplift from high velocity winds. Phase I of this project included the construction of Thrower Park and Bay Ridge subdivisions. These two subdivisions include 528 units on the 319 pads consisting of 35 building types. Four picnic areas, eleven playgrounds, and three basketball courts were also constructed on this project.  Phase II of this project included the construction of West Falcon and East Falcon subdivisions. These two subdivisions include 490 units on the 245 pads consisting of 10 building types. Four picnic areas, eight playgrounds, and three basketball courts were also constructed on this project.
