Yates Construction provided general construction services for the Mississippi Power Operations Center in Gulfport, MS. This 86,000 SF operations complex is located on a 40-acre site. The building consists of a structural concrete frame with an architectural pre-cast concrete exterior. The entire structure is designed to withstand 200 mile-per-hour winds and operate independent of public utilities for up to three days. It has emergency generators, redundant HVAC equipment, storage tanks and pumps for domestic, fire, and water systems. The facility is equipped with sleeping and shower facilities supportive of an “around the clock” contingency of operating staff.
