West Virginia University Ruby Memorial Hospital Expansion
Yates Construction is providing preconstruction and construction management services for the West Virginia University (WVU) Ruby Memorial Hospital Expansion project in Morgantown, West Virginia. The first phase of the project will include a 105,000 SF modification to the front of the hospital to enclose existing open areas for a four-story atrium, additional elevators, and 70,000 SF of shell space for future hospital functions. The second phase of the project will include the relocation of the main roadway in front of the hospital, construction of a new intersection, and altered traffic patterns for better pedestrian/vehicular access and circulation. The third and final phase of the project will include demolition of the current Rosenbaum Family House and Child Development Center, and construction of a new 345,000 SF, 10-story patient tower. The new addition will be connected to the existing hospital on all levels. This project will add an additional 114 beds to the hospital, and provide new, larger, and more accessible facilities for the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center and the Emergency Department. Additionally, 15 urgently-needed beds for critically-ill infants in the WVU Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will also be added.
