William Yates to Co-chair Southeast U.S. Japan Conference in Biloxi

February 4, 2013, Biloxi, Mississippi – The City of Biloxi is scheduled to host the 2013 joint meeting of the Southeast U.S.-Japan and Japan/U.S. Southeast Associations November 17-19 of this year.  The conference will be held at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino and is expected to draw 300 business leaders, officials, and reporters across Japan and the southeast United States. Yates Construction President William Yates III and Toshiba chairman Atsutoshi Nishba will serve as private-sector co-chairs for the event.

The announcement follows Mr. Yates’ 2012 visit to Tokyo where he announced this year’s conference location and met with business leaders, presenting a CD of Mississippi blues music before returning to Biloxi. Mr. Yates recently related to The Sun Herald that Japan and Biloxi share similarities in hospitality and the way business is conducted, adding that along with discussing investment and trade opportunities, building friendships will be a conference priority. Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway echoed the sentiment.”We’ll do everything we can to make them feel at home.”

The Japan-U.S. Southeast Association was established in 1975 to promote trade, investment, understanding and friendship. Member states include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
