Women in Construction Week 2024

March 3-9, 2024, is Women in Construction (WIC) Week. Chapters and companies across the nation use this week to highlight the initiatives and work of women within the construction industry while raising awareness of the opportunities available, emphasizing the growing role of women in the industry and their community impact.

Founded in 1953 by 16 women to create a support network to strengthen and amplify the success of women in the industry, NAWIC has grown to more than 6,000 members in 118 chapters across the United States. NAWIC provides support and means to develop leadership skills through professional education, personal growth, community involvement, and networking opportunities. All women working in or adjacent to construction are eligible for membership.

In 1972, the NAWIC founded the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) to provide educational opportunities and programs to benefit and promote the construction industry today and tomorrow. NEF’s Certification programs teach skills and provide tools to help start or advance industry careers. NEF also developed K-12 programs to help inspire the next generation of women in construction. For more information on these programs, please visitwww.nef-edu.org.

Yates Construction is proud to have members in the Austin, Memphis, Nashville, and Mississippi Gulf Coast chapters. For more information or to find a chapter near you, visit www.nawic.org.

Follow Yates’ on social media throughout the week as we participate in #WICWeek2024 and honor all women in construction.
