Setting the Green Example

Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, September 2013, Over the course of 13 months, Yates Construction helped transform the one-story brick building of United Cooperative Services into a new two-story, energy efficient office building and customer service center. The resulting structure is LEED® Silver certified and features a two story office building, storage warehouse, two kilowatts of solar photovoltaic panels, and a 90-ft, 10 kilowatt wind turbine. Together, the solar panels and wind turbine will provide roughly five percent of the facility’s annual energy usage. To lessen the environmental impact of construction, more than 50 percent of the original structures and site work were reused and lines to existing geothermal wells were repaired and incorporated into the facility’s new HVAC system.
